How to Boost your Self Confidence

I was walking my dogs around my neighborhood yesterday and every time I would walk past someone, I'd analyze how I was walking.  making sure I wasn't walking funny,  or doing something weird that someone might look at and judge me for.
Then I started thinking,  is there really a right way to walk? Why should I be so concerned about what these people see anyway?
The chattering thoughts in our heads tell us that people are constantly looking at us, constantly judging us for every move we make.
Do I notice people walking their dogs when I'm outside? Sometimes, but do I evaluate them on what they are doing with their hands, or how they walk.. usually not, unless they are trying to do something that doesn't look right.. which doesn't happen very often.

Everyone deals with being self-conscious. I believe self-consciousness can be a good or bad thing depending on what you do with it. It's people with mental disorders such as anxiety,  and depression that get the bad part of being self-conscious. These people are more likely to listen and believe the negative chattering thoughts in their heads.

The good news is, even if you are very negatively self conscious, you can do a few things to help.

Comparing Yourself to Others:

With social media being so popular,  it's hard not to follow your friend's lives and be envious of what they might have that you don't. Thinking that others may be better than you,  or have more than you will erode your self-confidence.

Try to remember that everyone is running their own race and life isn't a competition.

Challenge Your Thoughts:

Sometimes the chattering voices will try to put you down. They might tell you your not good enough for that promotion, or that you're too out of shape to work out. Challenge those thoughts by doing what your brain says you can't do!
It's ok to make mistakes or to be anxious sometimes. The most successful people had to make a lot of mistakes to get to where they are.

Don't let your thoughts make you someone you're not.

Take Care of Yourself:

Taking care of yourself both physically and mentally is the most important thing you can do. If your out of shape, you're going to be self-conscious about it. Start exercising and give yourself some goals to work toward. When you accomplish a goal it will build your confidence in yourself.
Make sure you continue to read books and teach yourself new things. When your growing your knowledge your not focused on everything that's wrong with you,  your focus is on the subject your learning.
I feel like when I learn something new,  I'm more confident in having conversations with others.

Being negative toward yourself will only hurt you more. So make sure you are staying positive when you make mistakes.

If you can work on these things,  you will find that you won't be as negatively self conscious. You will be proud of yourself and feel confident in yourself.

  2. The best thing about growing older (almost 50 now) is that I've really stopped caring what other people think! Gaining confidence takes time and practice.

  3. These days I really lack self-confidence. Social media to blame- so many of my friends got married, engaged or got well-paid jobs that it just makes me feel miserable. Trying to overcome that but in vain.

How I saved hundreds of dollars for Christmas.

Christmas is an expensive time of year for most.  For my family,  we set a strict budget for Christmas and try not to go over.  This year though is the first year I came out under budget!  We set a $900 budget for all Christmas gift purchases. Since I don't work and my husband has had a kind of crappy sales year, we needed to have a strict budget to not overextend ourselves.
For a few years, I've been using some money making apps to earn a little extra cash for Christmas and birthday gifts. This year it's really paid off!  I was able to use $150 from these apps to put toward Christmas! Using rewards from stores has saved me a good chunk of cash as well!
Want to know exactly how I saved so much money?
Kohls: I love taking advantage of Kohl's because they have great deals,  and they give you kohls cash for purchases you make.  This year I did some shopping at Kohl's and ended up with $55 in Kohl's cash. So I was able to use that toward a few gifts for my extend…

How to Find Success in Life

Success is something everyone wants, but we might define it differently. A lot of people associate success with having lots of money or having a fancy job title.
I think success can be a lot of different things. You can have success in relationships,  or creating that family you always wanted,  maybe it's being a successful athlete,  or getting that master or doctorates degree you have been working so hard to get. I think success can be anything you want that involves you to work hard to get.
There are some things you can do to help you live the successful life you want.

1. Have a great emotional intelligence.
Emotional Intelligence is something that is important to work on regardless of where you are in your life. To have or improve on emotional intelligence, you need to work on understanding both your emotions and other people's emotions.
When your able to identify how your feeling, you are able to control them better. It will help you to be able to step back and look at…

My Favorite Finds of 2018

2018 is coming to a close. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by.  2018 brought many fun things to my life.  For 2018 I made a goal to get out of my comfort zone,  to be a better parent, and to find more hobbies that interest me.  I did a pretty good job with all of these parts of my life. I started this blog which is really out of my comfort zone.  I've also been able to make a few new friends which are a miracle for me.   I worked on how I talk to my kids.  Apologizing to them more often when I do something wrong,  and making sure I tell them I love them as often as I can.  And as for the new hobbies, I've started a few.  I count my blog as a hobby since it's not really a money maker right now,  and I love writing for it.
I've found a bunch of things that have improved my life in some way or another and I want to share them with you.  Maybe you might find something new you haven't tried or something that can improve your life in 2019!
