Valentine's day is always seen as a couples holiday, celebrating with the one you love in some romantic way.
Now that I have kids, I like to make all holidays special as a family. I liked Valentine's day as a couple but I think spending that day with my kids makes it so much better!
It shows my kids that we need to show love to everyone, not just our partner.
Nothing makes a kid feel more special than a special treat or toy on Valentine's day. My kids are candy obsessed so I have to get them a little candy that they can eat that day.
If I'm really motivated, I'll make chocolate covered strawberries with them that morning and we will have them after dinner.
Buying Valentine's are fun, but I have found that making them by hand u.s so much better. My kids love to cut out paper hearts and draw pictures on them. It makes it more meaningful when they give a valentine to someones like their sibling or parent.
If you're a stay at home mom like I am, then you have some time to kill, and I love to find a special movie to watch with the kids.
Here are some fun little kid movies to watch this Valentine's Day
Lady and the Tramp
Beauty and the Beast
Gnomeo and Juliet
Be my Valentine, Charlie Brown
I'm a big believer in eating out whenever possible. So I like to hit up our local Papa Murphys for their heart-shaped pizza. My kids think it's fun and I don't have to make dinner. Win-win.
Pst.. don't forget the chocolate covered strawberries for dessert!
You don't have to always make Valentine's just about you and your partner. I think if you have kids, show them you love them by spending a fun day with them as well. Save the romance for your anniversary!
