Fun Fact Lowdown Vol. 6

I have always loved February for some reason.  I'm not quite sure why. I never really experienced a good Valentine's Day,  and I hate winter.. so it's just not the best time of year. But February always has this nice vibe to me. My husband and I ended up choosing the last day in February to get Married.  This year we are celebrating our 6 year anniversary which is exciting.  Hopefully, I'll be able to get a post in about it when it gets closer to the end of the month.
I have been slacking on my Fun Facts Lowdown posts lately so I'm making it up with some interesting fun facts about ther wonderful month of February and why we should enjoy every day of it!

February comes from the Latin word februa, which means “to cleanse.” The month was named after the Roman Februalia, which was a month-long festival of purification and atonement.

Originally, February was made the last month of the calendar year!  Eventually (c. 450 BC), February was moved to its place as the second month

February is packed with holidays!
  • February 2 is Groundhog Day
  • February 15 is Chinese New Year
  • February 12 is Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday
  • February 14 is always Valentine’s Day
  • February 15 is Susan B. Anthony’s Birthday.
  • The 15th is also the National Flag of Canada Day!
  • February 18 is Presidents Day.
  • The 22nd is George Washington's Birthday.

February is Return Shopping Carts to the Supermarket Month.

February Folklore:

Married in February’s sleety weather,
Life you’ll tread in tune together.
If February give much snow,
A fine summer it doth foreshow.
Fogs in February mean frosts in May.
If Candlemas Day [February 2] be mild and gay
Go saddle your horses, and buy them hay
But if Candlemas Day be stormy and black,
It carries the winter away on its back.
It is better to see a troop of wolves than a fine February.

I hope you all are having a wonderful February so far.  I'm just looking forward to Spring to get here.  There has been way too much snow and sickness going around where I'm at and I just need some sunshine and outdoors to make me feel better.

How to Find Success in Life

Success is something everyone wants, but we might define it differently. A lot of people associate success with having lots of money or having a fancy job title.
I think success can be a lot of different things. You can have success in relationships,  or creating that family you always wanted,  maybe it's being a successful athlete,  or getting that master or doctorates degree you have been working so hard to get. I think success can be anything you want that involves you to work hard to get.
There are some things you can do to help you live the successful life you want.

1. Have a great emotional intelligence.
Emotional Intelligence is something that is important to work on regardless of where you are in your life. To have or improve on emotional intelligence, you need to work on understanding both your emotions and other people's emotions.
When your able to identify how your feeling, you are able to control them better. It will help you to be able to step back and look at…

How To Do Vegas Right For Your 21st Birthday

The 21st birthday is a big one to celebrate.  You're finally out of your teens,  you can legally drink,  and you're considered an adult (more so than an 18-year-old).
If you're going to celebrate this great phase in life,  you need to do it up right!  Vegas is the place to celebrate.

Being a responsible adult,  you need to find some good friends that can join you on your excursion to Las Vegas.  Once you have found the right people to join you,  you must start planning.
Hotel: There are many hotel choices when staying in Vegas.  But you MUST stay on the strip if you plan on drinking.  It makes transportation and navigating so much easier.

Trust me,  you don't want to have to pay a taxi ride from the outskirts,  to the strip, and back.  Save that money for something better! I highly suggest staying at Mandalay Bay , or Ceasars Palace. But, if you have specific bars and places you want to go,  find out what hotel is closest to the area you will mostly be in.  It ma…

My Favorite Finds of 2018

2018 is coming to a close. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by.  2018 brought many fun things to my life.  For 2018 I made a goal to get out of my comfort zone,  to be a better parent, and to find more hobbies that interest me.  I did a pretty good job with all of these parts of my life. I started this blog which is really out of my comfort zone.  I've also been able to make a few new friends which are a miracle for me.   I worked on how I talk to my kids.  Apologizing to them more often when I do something wrong,  and making sure I tell them I love them as often as I can.  And as for the new hobbies, I've started a few.  I count my blog as a hobby since it's not really a money maker right now,  and I love writing for it.
I've found a bunch of things that have improved my life in some way or another and I want to share them with you.  Maybe you might find something new you haven't tried or something that can improve your life in 2019!
